Instructions for Virtual Server 2005 Your instructor will give you a username and password to access the InfoSec Virtual Server. The steps required to access you virtual machine(s) are outlined below. 1) Download the VMRC.exe utility onto your classroom desktop computer. vmrc.exe (click here to load Microsoft's VMRC.exe client.) 2) Run the VMRC.exe utility with the location and username (xxxx..represents the username that your instructor assigned) of your virtual machines (See dialog box below)*. Each user will be assigned their own virtual machines with an account name. This information may vary depending upon the activity you are completing. Click on the Connect button.
3) When prompted about Unencrypted Connection answer YES and check the box Don't ask me again. 4) When prompted about NTLM authentication answer YES and check the box Don't ask me again. 5) If you are prompted again about Unencrypted Connection answer YES and check the box Don't ask me again. 6) When prompted by VMRC Negotiate Authentication enter the User name and Password provided by your instructor. The username is the same as the one you entered in Step 2 above. 7) If you are prompted again about NTLM authentication answer YES and check the box Don't ask me again. 8) Finally, the screen below will appear.
9) When you are done working make certain you shut down your machines properly. If you simply close the VMRC window, your virtual machine will continue to run and use server resources. If resources are consumed, you or other students may not be able to log in to do your work. The server is rebooted every night at 3:10 and you haven't shut down properly, all of your work will be lost. 10) Remember, this is a test installation. Please, report all difficulties to your instructor. Have Fun!
